Message from the Managing Director

Welcome to the Pioneer Nickel Limited Website.

Pioneer Nickel Limited is a specialist nickel exploration company, which listed in December 2003 and is seeking to develop Nickel Sulphide deposits in the region of the Pioneer, Widgiemooltha and Depot Domes south of Kambalda, and the Acra-Silver Swan region north-east of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.

Explorers prior to the 1970s relied on geological mapping and geochemistry as their principal exploration tools. The location of a gossan, the remnants of weathered sulphides, was the defining moment when a prospect was confirmed to be endowed with nickel sulphides.

In the 2000s Pioneer has available to it more modern sophisticated tools including electromagnetic ("TEM") surveys, detailed aeromagnetic surveys and the ability to assay easily for elements including Platinum Group Metals ("PGM") which frequently co-exist with nickel and act as an important "pathfinder". In addition we now have specialist consultant groups that can computer-model and assist with interpretation of the various results.

All these tools facilitate where to look but at the end of the day, nothing is better than getting a geologist out on the ground to confirm the threads of evidence that have been collected. The process that Pioneer uses encompasses updating historical data with new geochemistry, remapping areas of significance while bearing in mind the most up-to-date ore genesis models, looking for gossans and applying TEM and aeromagnetics to produce a composite picture of the prospect.

Pioneer's advantage is that, through knowledge of its prospective tenement portfolio, it has been able to attract very capable geologists and by being based in Kalgoorlie we can spend a good proportion of time on the ground, where discoveries are made!

Please feel free to contact me to discuss any aspects of the report or our business.
